Stormy Weather

c. 1995 Written on a beach in Bayville, NY. People warned me that there already was a song called “Stormy Weather”. I’m so glad I lived in a bubble, and I’m so glad I didn’t care. Otherwise, the anxiety would have prevented me from writing this. After all, the people who warned me had never written a song.

The beach just before Center Island, on the side where the bathrooms and parking lot are.

About the recording: Since Moxie stopped playing this song very early on, the only band recordings would be on a cassette tape, probably at a gig. I’ve been trying for a couple of years..YES! Years to record this in my humble home studio. I’m settling on this one, recorded today, because I like the vocals. It’s a little slow and “ballady” for my tastes, but this pace was the only way I could sing. Maybe one day I will be able to rock it up AND hit those notes. But for now, it’s the best I can do. Onward, onward, onward……

Stormy Weather

Flowers bloom
their perfume
fills this bright and sunny day
Sparrows swoon
sing their tune
and I feel G-D damned out of place
Before I smiled when I saw children play and lovers kissing.
Now everyday it rains on me because your words are missing.CHORUS
Tell me we’re together.
End my private stormy weather.
I know behind your curtain lies a love that’s true and certain.

Tiny ships
colored sails
speckle the waves so calm and small
I kind of wish
I was a giant
so I could splash and sink them all
Why should there be a pretty sea
I can’t appreciate?
Why should their be a love that’s left unused cuz you don’t say, don’t….

CHORUS
