Friday, Sept 19th, 2025- Jakob’s studio. I don’t even think his studio has a name, yet he’s so booked he works 7 days a week.
And from this magical experience, I can see why! He put together a jaw dropping studio band. We all worked so well together, and recorded the four song EP live in less than 6 hours. Seriously I felt like I was playing with a studio band at Muscle Shoals.
The second I entered the space, I felt at home. Literally. The studio resembles my loft apartment so much, I imagine my friends who see this photo will assume we recorded at my house. He even keeps his Cubase computer in the same window corner.
The unwritten studio dress code was deliciously lax. We rocked tee shirts, jeans, socks, and even huge gaping tears in fabric. This also made me feel at home. As much as I love putting together fashionable outfits, this was about the music and not the show. Above, I showed up on our second studio day for vocals and overdubs wearing spacious old clothes. We completed an E.P. in two days, which required musical hyper focus and little time for image taking. This is one of the few pics I have.
One of the best guitarists I ever played with said, “A song is just a shell”. As I wait for the mixes, I am trying my best not to listen to the raw prints, so I can move forward on other music projects. But when my will power runs thin and I press play, I am in awe of how these songs have taken on a whole new gorgeous life beyond my wildest dreams, thanks to the harmonious convergence of these incredible musicians. The songs traveled through a myriad of divine musical genius and I can’t wait until I can release them back into the ether from where they came. Above all, I can’t wait for you to listen!
